Saudi Design Week Pop Up (SDW Pop Up)

The pop-up platform allows for a group of emerging designers to exhibit in a city in which they may have had little previous exposure, and also allows for a wider audience to experience first-hand the overlap of culture and society interpreted through the body of curated design work. It’s not about creating exhibitions on the fly, but rather reformulating the design fair experience in a way that foregrounds the designer’s background and influences.

In contemporary design, there currently is a creative overlap in the way works are both created and exhibited. The concept of a pop-up design fair embodies today’s multifaceted and global citizen, and how Saudi Arabia plays a role in the continuously shifting global society. Saudi Design Week will showcase Saudi designers to a broader international audience that have had little exposure to the country’s burgeoning and engaging creative scene.

Launching Pop-SDW to participate in Milan Design Week 2016 is a perfect way to represent Saudi Arabia’s contribution to the global world of design. Saudi Design Week- Pop Up will showcase Saudi Arabia’s continued growth in the region as not only a geopolitical force, but increasingly as a creative hub as well.
